Summary
Nick and Brad reflect upon their experiences with "I Am Alive", a downloadable adventure/platformer from Ubisoft Shanghai. They discuss the game's troubled history, its similarity to survival horror, and the mechanics that make this one of the most memorable games of 2012 so far. There are some minor spoilers near the end of the show (See spoiler warning time stamps below) but any fan of platforming or survival-horror will want to give this a listen. Look for a possible volume 2 in the near future with Nolan to discuss the differences in "Hardcore" difficulty.

| 0:39.3 | What? |
| 0:54.9 | Yes, to completion. Nolan was playing some last night, though. I did see that. He decided to play on hardcore, though. Oh, shit. I would actually like to have a conversation with him about that. Yeah, I know. I don't know what the differences are. It'd be nice to cut them in here, but we're going to spoil the shit out of this game, right? |
| 0:54.9 | Yeah, but I mean, the good thing about I'll hear what the differences are. It'd be nice to cut them in here, but we're going to spoil the shit out of this game, right? |
| 1:10.5 | Yeah, but I mean, the good thing about the Audible Impression show is we can do multiple volumes on a particular game, so maybe we can do one with Nolan later to hear about, specifically about the survival mode. Cool. So basically, just for those people who don't really know much about the game, it has kind of a long history. |
| 1:15.4 | It started, I don't even know how many years ago, probably four or five years ago was announced at E3. |
| 1:22.1 | And what most people assumed is going to be a full retail game, and then it kind of went silent for a while. |
| 1:29.1 | Basically, it tells the story of a man who is stuck in the middle of, uh, the, I guess, I guess the apocalypse, like, the post apocalypse. The post apocalypse brought on by some kind of natural event, |
| 1:35.0 | which in a very, uh, in the style of like something like the road, they don't really tell you |
| 1:39.4 | what happened. They just kind of tell you some natural disaster occurred and pretty much wiped out civilization. |
| 1:47.5 | And so it had a lot of people talking, a lot of people really interested in it. |
| 1:50.6 | It's kind of an interesting premise because it's not necessarily a first person shooter or your typical adventure game. |
