Marlaina Mathisen is a proficient wheel throwing artist who loves to share her understanding of the wheel to others. Marlaina's personal work focuses primarily on wheel thrown and altered forms ranging from functional works of art to organic sculptural centerpieces. Currently Marlaina teaches a variety of classes at The Digs in Chicago, Fine Line Creative Arts Center in and supplying and managing a pottery gallery in Door County Wisconsin called Ephraim Clayworks. Marlaina's 5 year plan is to continue diligently working towards establishing her own pottery studio.

I've had, I have a little bit of an update to give you on my eye.

I'm getting my new eye in May, and I think I already told you all that so that's coming up now as a little

precursor to this I want you to know is that I wear an eye patch now right because my eyes been

removed so I had this funny thing happen where I went to I went somewhere to get, to get some, something.

And the person at the checkout stand just says to me, says,

so is that a fashion statement or you got something,

I think that living in Portland, I totally get why someone would ask if it's a fashion statement.

There are lots of bumper stickers in areas.

It says, you know, keep Portland weird. And that's one of the things that I think maybe there are people running around out there with patches on their eyes just

because they want to, I guess. I don't know. So that happened. And then a couple days later,

someone else says to me, are you dressing like a pirate for fun

oh man that is just the best.
