Summary

Zac Blackerby and Painter Sharpless discuss the first weekend of action for the AAF. They mention the Birmingham Iron's former Auburn Tigers and how they represented their former school. They also discussed Auburn basketball and their disappointing loss against LSU this past weekend. The guys wanted to direct the conversation back to football but don't really know where to go so Zac pulls a talking point out of nowhere and the two hosts discuss the receiver position and build on some previous conversations that the guys have had on the podcast. It's a Monday.

What a Monday it is.

Last time we talked, there was no, there was, there had never been an AAS game. Now there has been four. And I'm shocked how excited people are for it. I'm cool with it. More football the better. And we're going to talk about the iron because a lot of Auburn people, I'm shocked how many Auburn people care about

0:37.5

the Birmingham Iron because of former Auburn players on there. We'll talk about that in just a

0:42.4

second. But just the whole premise of the league is interesting. I think it's a bit hypocritical

0:49.2

at times, both from the AAS point of view and from football fans point of view.

0:55.9

But regardless, it had a successful opening weekend from a rating standpoint.

So we'll see how it goes from here.

1:03.3

People seem interested.

1:04.7

I think the way that they mix things up in terms of region and former players with only eight teams.

1:11.7

They did a nice job of,

1:12.9

I think trying to get people to buy into the team,

1:16.2

whether that be through former college players or, of course,

1:20.0

just where they're located because there isn't a professional team there.

1:23.9

So I enjoyed it.

1:25.7

I'm with you.

1:26.3

I think most of us enjoyed the idea of having what appears to be year-round football if something like this were to stick. And it's interesting because the Canadian football leagues find quality of football. You know, it's not the NFL, but they're professionals. But no one seems to really have a lot of skin in the game. And I wonder if this league, if it can stay afloat, it becomes more popular.

1:47.9

And if that's the case, then maybe people feel like they do have a reason to buy

1:52.8

and they do have a reason to care.

1:54.7

I think right now people are just excited to have some football to watch and some guys

1:59.4

that they represent their team, their college team.
