Summary

Every day, a musician tunes their instrument. It changes, of course, because of temperature, air pressure, humidity, etc. This ongoing "attunement" is essential for the instrument to play at its best. It wouldn't be possible to play a song well with an instrument that was attuned a few days ago, let alone a few years ago. First, let's settle in together with the sound of the bells. So I've been talking a lot more about attuned

lately. It's a word I'm using more in my teachings,

and I like it almost as a replacement for being present and focusing.

To attune ourselves to the present moment and to attune ourselves to ourselves requires a baseline level of presence and it organically

develops a quality of focus and settled attention.

So what do we mean by a tune man?

You can think of it in the same way that a musician might think of it.

Every day when a musician, a professional musician that's playing every day pulls out their instrument,

the first thing they need to do is tune the instrument because all sorts of conditions

can change how the instrument sounds and is played that day.

From the pressure in the air to the temperature to the that allow it to sound its best.

Now, it's interesting because we, as humans,

are probably changing way more than an instrument would be changing from day to day.

And yet many of us are waking up each day expecting ourselves to be the same.

We're playing an instrument that maybe we attuned to 10, 20, 30 years ago and

still wanting it to perform, sound, behave, emote think the same way that it did.

And this is just not a reality of being human.
