Do you have champagne dreams and caviar wishes?

I'm Anita Joyce here with Kelly Wilkins, and this is Decorating Tips and Tricks, Episode 380 Attainable Luxury.

Are you settled into your bathtub full of champagne, Callag? With your microphone dangling next to it? I would be, but that's very dangerous.

But I do have champagne tastes and caviar wishes or whatever that was. I have that.

Yes.

And I think it's okay to have that because we should be surrounding ourselves with beautiful

things that make us feel good all the time.

And I'm really interested in this whole topic of how the concept of luxury has changed in fairly

recent times, fairly dramatically, actually. It is not, luxury is not what people used to think of

it as. And the striving for luxury is very different. The direction that people are going in

to get luxury is very different because what they think is luxurious is very different.

Did you find that when you were doing your research for this topic?

Yeah, I think now it's a lot about lifestyle,

about not doing things yourself. So maybe it's not having a gold-covered cake, but it's about

having food made by someone else delivered to your house. That's considered the luxury item.

But I kind of think, I also think of how a hundred years ago, actually even before that,

kind of around the time, Downton Abbey, people in these grand houses had all the staff,

and then all that staff was replaced in the kitchen was replaced with equipment.

And then they kind of didn't need all that staff.

And now you can just

order it in. So now there's a whole new change. And then, you know, like you would have a driver

and a car if you had lots of money. Now you can have, now everyone can have that with Uber and Lyft.
