You're very lucky if you can have 51% of the people that continue to support you.

So all those people who I think like me and respected me before I became there,

when I had to make decisions that negatively impacted their lives,

then that started to change the relationships.

So that was very difficult for me, but it was something that had to be done.

Somebody had to do it.

And I found myself in the position of doing that.

Why did you choose now to write a book?

I really never gave writing a book a lot of thought until the end of my term and the mayor's office trying to figure out what I was going to do next.

So my guy that was with me who runs the program, Bob Warfield started asking me in the late part of my term in the mayor's office,

that you have had a pretty diverse life.

And outside of the people in Detroit,

you know, a lot of people don't know who you are,
