Hi, everybody. This is Dylan. Today we're celebrating a milestone here at the Atlas Obscura

podcast. We just made our 100th episode. This is actually the 100th and 1st episode of

the show. And over the course of that 100 episodes, we have taken you all to the burning

gates of hell in Turkmenistan to the living root bridges in India, to the banks of a boiling

river in Peru, to the booming dunes of China. Anyway, 100 is a lot. So we thought this might

be a good time to go back and reintroduce the show, a sort of Atlas Obscura 101, if you

will. And if you're a new listener, maybe we can point you to some previous episodes

that you'll want to go back and give a listen. If you've been with us since the beginning,

first off, thank you. That's incredible. It's a lot. And this will maybe give you a better idea

of some of the people behind the show, a few of the producers, the editors, the mixers, all of

who make this seemingly impossible job of making a show Monday through Thursday possible.

I'm Dylan Theras, and this is Atlas Obscura, a celebration of the world's strange, incredible,

and wondrous places. And for our 101st episode, we are taking you through a survey of some of the

team's favorite places and episodes that we've produced. That is all after this.

Hi, my name is Amanda McGowan. I'm a contributing producer on the podcast, and my favorite episode

is Cloning. It's the story of the folk music tradition in Sweden that started with

herdswomen singing to their cows. And you really have to listen to this episode. The singing is so

ethereal and beautiful, and it's layered in a really nice way.

It makes me just want to be standing on a beautiful green pasture somewhere, staring out.

At the cows and the animals, and it almost inspires me to want to sing to my cat, although

I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't have the same majestic quality.
