Hey y'all. From NPR, I'm Sam Sanders. It's been a minute. Today on the show Brian Tyree Henry.

You may know him for his work on the award-winning FX show Atlanta. He plays Paperboy,

a.k.a Alfred, the rapper who contains multitudes. Also, Brian was part of the original Broadway cast

of the Book of Mormon. And this year you're going to see him in about half a dozen movies. He's

really busy. So season two of Atlanta just premiered on FX. And I got to tell you it is even better

than the first. If for some reason you're not watching that show, here's a quick description.

It is a comedy slash drama that follows two cousins Alfred, a.k.a.

paperboy, is trying to become a successful rapper. His cousin Erne is a Princeton dropout trying

to manage paperboy's career. Erne is played by Donald Glover, who was the show's creator and star.

Also a Grammy-winning musician. Also in the show, the third main character is Darius, paperboy's

best friend. Darius is played by LeKete Stanfield. Fun fact, we actually interviewed LeKete on

this show last summer. Go check that out if you missed it. My goal in life basically is to interview

the entire cast of Atlanta universe make it happen. So let's get to this chat. I talked with

Brian Tyree Henry in person in New York a few weeks back in the midst of like a crazy snow,

slash sleet, slash rainstorm. Before I moved back to LA, also FYI in this chat, Brian and I

use the in word a few times. And we've chosen not to bleep that word. We bleep all the other curse
