Live from the United States where capitalism is the virus, this is hell, as the American Friends Services Committee describes the situation that sparked a movement, we've discussed on our show in the past, and we will be talking about over the next couple months here on This Is Hell in a series of interviews.

The city of Atlanta wants to build a $90 million police training facility.

If constructed, Cop City would be one of the largest militarized police training centers in the country, all built by destroying a vital urban forest.

The Stop Cop City Atlanta website quotes Kwame Aloufemi of community movement builders,

an Atlanta area member-based collective of black people,

creating sustainable, self-determining communities through cooperative economic advancement

and collective community organizing, saying to be clear,

Cop City is not just a controversial training center.

It is a war base where police will learn military-like maneuvers to kill black people and

control our bodies and movements. The facility includes shooting ranges, plans for bomb

testing, will practice tear gas deployment.

They are practicing how to make sure poor and working class people stay in line.

So when the police kill us in the streets again, like they did to Rayshard Brooks back in 2020,

they can control our protests and community response to how they continually murder our people.

And as statistics have shown since the killing of George Floyd, police killings continue to rise to set new records each and every year.
