la, la, la, la, Dr Craig and Arthur for American atheists says that we should just stop debating that atheists should stop debating religion

he's not completely against debate but he's against debate he says of

nonsensical things or things that don't exist. He says as every

successful movement before it the atheist movement must now move past the debate stage because there are no new arguments to make and no new

evidence to present.

Now I think that's an interesting rationalization for why atheists should not engage in debates.

In the first place, it's false that there are no new arguments and evidence to present.

For example, Alvin Plann Planning has suggested two dozen or so arguments for God's existence, which are now

the subject of a book published by Oxford University Press, edited by Jerry Wals, which include quite a number

of very novel and creative new arguments for God's existence.

But even if there were no new arguments for God's existence, Kevin, that's irrelevant

because I find that most people are ignorant of these arguments, and therefore the purpose of public

debate can be to inform them about these

arguments of which they're unaware. You and I for example did a podcast some time ago

on PZ Meyers' critiques of the five arguments for God's existence that have often defended.

And it was shocking how superficial his understanding of these arguments was and I think in showing the

fallaciousness of his responses is definitely something that is a worthwhile

activity. He continues, we have raised awareness, we as atheist, have raised awareness, we have made our arguments,

we have pointed out the evidentiary and logical flaws in religious claims,

we have tried to educate and we have even gotten angry.
