They win James Hardin's home debut in a blowout fashion over the Wizards, but Sam Merrill and Jared Allen didn't play along. They stole the spotlight from him. And joining me today is the man who always steals the spotlight. Carter Rodriguez, how you doing, buddy? I'm doing good. It's the all-star break. I feel like I

needed a little bit of, you know, a little bit of time to refresh and rest. I feel like it coming

right on the back of the longest West Coast trip of the year is kind of a nice little treat to both

the Cavs staff and to us, you know, after a bunch of late nights staying up

podcasting at midnight, just a little week off to take care of the family, spend time with

friends, all that stuff like that, you know, not inconvenient that it happens over Valentine's

weekend as well. So, yeah, I feel good. And it doesn't hurt to be going into a long break on a five-game winning streak. It's so, it's so much more encouraging and, like, it feels like a reward as opposed to a, oh, man, if I got to wait a whole week and then they're still struggling on the back-end, like we don't have to deal with that. Yeah. And I feel like we've had that a couple times, right? Wasn't it last year? Was it a loss to Atlanta rate going into the All-Star break? It was either Atlanta or Chicago. I feel like we're always playing them as the last game. But it's a disappointing one. And then we came out of the All-Star break and I think we won, what, 15 straight games after the break.

It's, I'm happy that the All Star weekend has moved up.

It's great.

I remember how awkward it was when they would have the All Star weekend and the trade deadline hadn't even passed yet, right?

Like there's so many kind of tweaks to the schedule.

It is a little weird to have Valentine's Day on All-Star weekend.

This is probably going to be like the first time I haven't watched an All-Star Saturday in a while.

But as you mentioned, it's really, really nice to see the Cavs go into this break riding a hot streak,

right? Like, I know everybody is talking about the Cavs stats since December 29th.

Like, that seems to be the arbitrary point.

But this here podcaster already picked a different arbitrary point, and that was December

22nd, because that was our feel-good win over the Hornets.

And Carter, since that date, the Cavs have the best winning percentage in the NBA.
