This series of talks looks into the court life in the 16th century during the reign of King

Henry VIII.

In this talk, Historic Royal Palace's chief curator Tracy Borman goes behind the scenes to investigate the private

lives of the Tudors.

I'm here to talk about those Tudors.

They've been in the press quite a lot recently.

In fact, they're rarely out of the press.

There was a Guardian article about Tudor mania.

Aren't we all fed up of the Tudors yet?

Was the sort of general tone of the piece? No, was the conclusion I am pleased to say.

And I don't think we ever will be because I know I'm biased, but I do think they are the greatest and the most fascinating dynasty in our long and distinguished royal history.

Well, my talk this evening is based on the research that I did for my latest book, The Private Lives, of the Tudors.

But in particular, it's based right here at

Hampton Court, which was one of the favourite palaces, certainly of Henry VIII and of some of the

other Tudors too. So I've drawn out those stories which are very specific to Hampton Court.

It really is history where it happened.

We like those moments at HRP.

We like to tell visitors where you're standing now is where Henry VIII proposed to Anne

Berlin or whatever it might be.
