So first off, what is your relationship to Tanzania?

Probably my first contact with Tanzania was when I was at University of Wisconsin

for my bachelor's degree.

I actually studied African languages.

Swahili was my first language that I studied there.

So I'd always wanted to spend time in East Africa,

and so I got to know Tanzania even before I went

through the language.

After getting my graduate degree in public health

in New Orleans, I had a chance to travel there.
