Amateur Traveler episode 656. Today the amateur traveler talks about caves and mines and castles, lakes and churches, UNESCO sites, and even secret rooms as we go to Slovenia.

Welcome the amateur traveler. I'm your host Chris Christensen. Let's talk about

Slovenia. This is Chris and there's not going to be a guest on this show but instead for one of the first few

times we're going to do two shows in a row that are about my travels and this time my travels

to Slovenia and that is because I did trips back to back.

I flew from Paris to Slovenia as a guest of the Slovenian tourism board.

And I traveled all around the country for a week or really for five days of heavy travel.

This is going to be really a seven day itinerary.

I did it in five.

You're not going to want to.

But I first want to talk about the things that I didn't do. For those of you who don't know how the

press trip kind of works, when you're doing a solo press trip like this was, you get an itinerary

from your host from the tourism board and then you do some

iteration you say well that's not exactly what I like to cover do you have more of

this so in this case I did not get to the eastern part of the country although my original

itinerary that they sent would have called for me to fly into Ljubljana do some

touring there which I did do and then go to the east and when you see a picture of

Odotets Castle or Castle Hotel where they're going to put me up for the night you'll

think I'm crazy for not heading in that direction but that was going to be stopping at the Dolignetzky thermal spa.
