Ferry Building, cable cars, Alcatraz, Fortune cookies, the Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown, Pier 39,

could we be talking about any other place except San Francisco, the city by the bay. This is Chris Christensen

from Amateur Traveler, so let's start talking about San Francisco.

I'd like to welcome to the show Kimberly Lovato and Jill Robinson who are come to

talk to us about San Francisco. They are travel writers, friends of mine and

also recently the authors of 100 things to do in San Francisco

before you die parenthetically which we hope is not soon.

And I should say that Jill has been on the show twice before, if I'm

remembering correctly, talking about both New Orleans and then another San Francisco Bay Area destination, which is Napa and Sonoma wine country.

But we have not done a show on San Francisco in a surprisingly long period of time considering that I live in our south here

So I was very pleased when you guys pitched me a show especially because I know the quality of your work.

Why should someone go to San Francisco?

I say I respond with why wouldn't you want to come to San Francisco and as a matter of fact

as we're talking today I'm sitting in France actually and I was chatting with someone today and when people ask me where I'm from, I never say the United States or California.

I always say San Francisco because the response is always the same these these big eyes this big smile and they say oh I love San Francisco and I really or I really want to go there and today someone did that to me and they said oh I've traveled all over the United States on my honeymoon

but San Francisco was different and I think that's what it is for me too. I grew up in

Los Angeles but San Francisco it has everything a big metropolis sprawling city has but
