Amateur Traveler, episode 403. Today the Amateur Traveler talks about beautiful beaches,

amazing trees, and isolation as we go to the island of Socotra off the coast of Yemen.

I know that I should be heading home

but maybe not maybe not to the day. Welcome to the amateur traveler. I'm your host Chris Christensen. Before we get

into this week's episode I do have three news stories for you. This is an odd

story coming out of China. There is a theme park that is building a complete

replica of the RMS Titanic. Not only can you go board the ship, but you can

experience what it was like when it hit an iceberg. The theme park also boasts a man-made beach

Turkish baths and what is called a 6D cinema. I don't know what it is, but it's apparently twice

as good as 3D. Something that's not twice as good was a recent landing by some Southwest airline pilots at the wrong airport.

The only missed the airport they were looking for by 9 miles, touching down not at the Branson Airport, but at a nearby charter and personal aircraft

airport. They had to put on the brakes rather hard because the runway was very short, and they brought

the plane to a stop only 200 feet from a drop-off.

Passengers that send five minutes later they were told they were at the wrong airport

and what I'd like to know is, I'd love to be a fly on the wall and the conversation in the cockpit

for those five minutes.

There's a story out of the UK that a hotel manager was sacked for leaving negative comments

on bad reviews on TripAdvisor.
