Amateur Traveler episode 346. Today the amateur traveler talks about a mile high

city in the tropics that's been nicknamed the City of the Eternal Spring,

Mediyanian Columbia.

I know that I should be heading home, but maybe not,

maybe not to the day. Welcome to the amateur traveler. I'm your host Chris Christensen. Before we get

into this week's interview I do have three news stories for you. In the first one

a study has shown that one way to fend off jet lag is to starve yourself

for 16 hours to re-engage your new body clock.

So it turns out that when the airlines stopped serving you food, they

were just thinking of you. Speaking of airlines to think of you, there was an article

in Time magazine, Why an airlineline that Travelers Love is failing.

And it was about Virgin America, which has had very good ratings, has won a lot of awards,

but is losing money.

They've had an operating loss of 447 million since they first opened in 2007.

It turns out that passengers are not willing to pay enough for the kind of service that they offer.

Speaking of services, Royal Princess is going to add a TV

studio with live shows and events to some of their ships. Now I understand why you

might want to have a cooking show or even a special musical event on a ship, but I'm not sure why I want to stay in my cabin to watch it.
