Welcome to the Amateur Traveler. I'm your host Chris Christensen. Before we get

into this week's interview, I do have three news stories for you. You know how

frustrating it is when you're in the parking lot and you hit a light pole and you have to decide whether or not to report it to your car insurance?

Well, I'm not sure that they have the same problem when it's an airplane rather than a car. Southwest Flight 792 had just

landed from Los Angeles in the Denver Airport when it ran into a light pole. I'm surprised they even have light poles that close to the runways.

But that's not nearly the problem that thousands of passengers had who flew Spann Air

because that airline stranded 20,000 passengers because they shut down.

They ran out of financing options and the Barcelona-based airline ceased operations

and cancelled 647 flights.

If you had a trip booked on them, good luck with that.

They're working out details to try and get refunds to people who had tickets and had yet to travel.

And then speaking of people who won't have to worry about that

there were some British friends who claimed they've been banned from entering the

United States because they tweeted jokes about quote

destroying America and their tweets were picked up by the country's anti-terrorism police.
