Today the Amateur Traveler goes to the national parks in the United States.

Some of them are big, some of them are small, and a few of them are even completely underwater. I'm your host Chris Christensen. Last week I promised you that I would find you some better travel news this week. The first story I have for you is

about Airlines going greener. Virgin Airline is doing a test flight of a Boeing 747 running

on a mixture of diesel and biofuel. Branson actually has an

alternative's fuel division at Virgin which makes me wonder what he hasn't

invested in and it was created in 2006 from the profits of his airlines and trains.

They started a similar test six months ago with a biofueled passenger train. It does make me wonder if the

planes, like so many biofueled cars, will end up smelling like French fries.

And then speaking of cool new things, Disneyland is getting new monorails.

The first in the line will feature blue glass and red stripes that change color in sunlight.

Sort of like a big mood ring.

I'm going to let you say what it is that your goal is here.

Well, my goal basically is to visit the national park units of the lower 48 states. I hope

eventually to get to Alaska and Hawaii but for now just concentrating on the

300 plus park units in the lower 48 is proved quite a task to get through.
