Allah says in the Quran,

udulham le Abba'i, who actsh Mle AIMU, Aksa,

in the law, called them by their fathers, that is the justice in the eyes of Allah Shipphana

with al-Aala.

And this verse has been misinterpreted by some in our modern times to say that this applies to

women changing their last names but this is not the case. The Western concept

of a woman changing her last name and this is coming from the west it never

existed in the east this is a complete European construct where if a lady would

marry a man she would change her last name to indicate that she is now basically owned by the man or she belongs to the man

Even in Western culture it was never meant to indicate that she is no longer the daughter of her own father.

You see, the Western function of the last name is not the same as the Quranic verse

Uduhumli Abba'i. The Quranic verse Udohum Li Abahim.

The Quranic verse Uduhahm-I mean call them by their fathers.

It means make sure that the child is said so and so and so is the son of so and so and so, so and so is the daughter of so and so and so.
