Summary

We’re kicking off the week by answering listener questions! And if you have a question that you’d like for us to answer on the show, we’d love for you to submit your own via HowToMoney.com/ask , send us your voice memo. Regardless of how random or bizarre you might think it is, we want to hear it!

1 - Does it make sense to buy an RV in order to avoid high real estate costs?

2 - How wealthy will my girlfriend get after earning her master’s degree in counseling?

3 - Given the recent volatility of the stock market, should we tweak the allocation of a 529 account we just set up?

4 - I’m interested in using real estate to semi-retire in 7 to 10 years- but where should I save or invest my down payment?

5 - Should I pay off my student loans or invest my extra savings?

During this episode we enjoyed a Kolsch by Blaze Brewing! And please help us to spread the word by letting friends and family know about How to Money! Welcome to had a money I'm Joel and I am Matt and today we're answering your listener questions.

2:05.7

So this is a listener question Monday episode what we are going to get to five excellent questions from listeners we've got a listener who's wondering if he should be paying off his student loans or instead taking that money and sticking it in the market he's talking about potentially investing that money.

2:21.7

We've got somebody else who's thinking about getting a degree in counseling to get rich we've got something good thoughts to share on that one and another listener has that's a real reason to do any profession is just to get rich.

2:33.7

So they're considering the strategy of going with an RV instead of a traditional home in order to cut back on some of their expenses to find a place to live and so we are going to share our thoughts on that one as well plus two other questions looking forward to all of them today well yes we are and that truth truly is not a good reason to go into basically any profession I guess maybe some people go into your watch Wall Street in order to it's basically just for the money and then you see the stories about people working a hundred hours a week.

3:02.7

And I'm like that sounds like it's not worth really almost any salary you could pay me that is true.

3:07.7

Before we get to that man I wanted to mention really quickly something that I had heard existed but it's not something that I'd really taken advantage of and it's the fact that when you buy something of course at Costco you can go back if there's a price drop like it's it's like this worst feeling in the world for me when I bought something the last time and then I see the new catalog and I'm like I mean I think it's five dollars off this month I screwed up I should have waited.

3:31.7

But no no no you don't have to wait if it's within 30 days of that price drop you can literally just go to customer service and get a refund and say listen can you look that up in my membership straight up refund exactly they've got record of it because yeah you are a member you got to scan that car that's right.

3:45.7

You know everything about you don't even need like at least they know all of your Costco shopping right you don't need the physical receipt it's literally just on the record of the purchase yeah so it makes it super simple and it's something I hadn't really taken advantage of and I knew existed I guess maybe I don't know what I'm going to do.
