Summary

We’re kicking off the week by answering your listener questions! And if you have a question that you’d like for us to answer on the show, we’d love for you to submit your own via HowToMoney.com/ask , send us your voice memo. Regardless of how random or bizarre you might think it is, we want to hear it!

1 - iBonds: What is the actual rate that I’m earning and should I dump them to fund an ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit)?

2 - Trusts: Should I implement a trust in order to protect my sizeable investments in my taxable brokerage account?

3 - Roth conversion: Do I need to let my Roth conversion sit for 5 years before I’m able to tap it?

4 - Precious metals: Is now the time to sell the silver I invested in years ago?

5 - Down payments: To what extent is it illegal to tap a HELOC to fund my next home purchase?

Guaranteed Human. Welcome to How to how to money Monday.

0:34.2

I almost said how to Monday, which is not what we're doing here.

0:37.0

We're not telling you how you should live your life, although we kind of are. Because money touches everything, right, buddy? Yeah, touches everything. There's a lot of freedom of choice in there, and we don't want to dictate anything to you, but we're just offered some advice and opinion. Yeah, do what float your boat to a certain extent? Like a listener, for instance. And hey, if you sent your question in, you asked us, okay? So like, it's on you a little bit. You want to know what it is that we have to say about iBonds, for instance. That's a question we're going to get to. Listeners asking if, like, switching over to an ADU, if that's better than IBonds, and you might be thinking, man, that's like apples to oranges. Well, we will get to it. It might even be like apples to spinach or something. Like chicken. Yeah.

1:28.6

We're going to talk about silver. Actually, there's been a whole lot of gold talk recently. I feel like there's been less talk about silver. What about silver, Joel? What about palladium? What about platinum? All the other precious metals you could invest in. What about vibranium? Is that a real one?

1:29.4

You know what vibranium?

1:43.8

Vibranium is? That's the made-up metal from Waconda. Oh, okay. I mean, it's not made-up, it's fictional. I never saw those movies, mostly because I haven't watched, I think maybe I've watched like one Marvel movie in my whole life, and I try to stay away from them. I feel like after that one, they all started to go downhill.

1:44.4

They were great there for... Supposedly that one was really good.

1:45.6

Yeah, that was around the end game film, whatever. It was before they started like forcing all the plot lines. Yes, yeah, exactly. As well as Helox, we're going to talk about Home Equity Land of, where else can you hear hear us talk about Marvel characters and movies, but then also he locks, Joel. Only hear it

2:02.0

out of money. From the fun and the culturally relevant to the mundane money talk, we run the gamut.

2:07.3

That's what we're doing here. Okay, real quick, listener Andrea emailed us recently, and she said that

2:13.3

if you guys haven't checked it out before, you should check out Amazon grocery. And. And I was wondering, Matt, if you have given Amazon Grocery a shot, she sent over a screenshot of a recent purchase.

2:25.9

And she got 18 eggs for a dollar.

2:28.3

First off, it shows egg prices are not what they were a year ago, right?

2:31.6

They really have come down.

2:33.3

I kind of gone back to normal. But 18 eggs for a dollar, The flocks are back. Is that normal? Is that not normal on Amazon grocery? If that's normal, then you're right. I probably should check out Amazon grocery. Except that, I'm sure it was those plain, generic white eggs, though. Let's be honest, right? Nothing wrong with some plain generic white eggs. Oh, man. We've moved on to like the faint.

2:51.7

I get the faintly brown eggs.

2:54.3

We get the elite eggs now, Joel.

2:56.1

It depends on the price discrepancy for me.

2:59.0

So typically.

3:00.1

We should be more price sensitive, honestly.

3:02.1

The two dozen eggs at the white eggs at Costco is typically around $4.
