Welcome to the Shared Practices podcast. We are building something new and exciting, launching something

0:09.3

that we've had in the works for a while. And when something like this happens, this is where

0:14.7

listeners should look up and say, crap, I've been waiting for this, and I'm glad we're talking about it.

0:19.3

And I'm talking about this with the host of the show, Dr. George Hariri, George of the Ask George segment. Talk to us, George. How's it going? Good. How are you doing? Doing really good. I'm excited to hear that we've figured out a way to scale some of the most valuable stuff that we've ever had in shared practices and offer it to more

0:38.1

and more dentists. But before we get to that, I almost think it's apt to go back and look at,

0:42.7

we have in the past had coaching services and we've had mastermind services as part, you know,

0:49.3

being part of a mastermind, being part of a club, being part of a group of people doing stuff together.

0:55.3

And we know how important that is, but we also know that sometimes it's challenging to

1:01.8

scale the magic of a mastermind. And we've wanted to lean more into that, but we haven't

1:07.0

had the answer. So why do you feel like when we originally started the mastermind? Why was this so important to us back then, the format that we had back then, what was good about it and what didn't work about it? Yeah, so I think to answer that question, it would be good to explain, like, what's Ask George? Like, why do we have that term? Why do we call the episodes Ask George? and recently I was at the zoo with one of our, he was a director of doctor leadership in our DSO. And he said, he's like, you know something I've noticed just in my time here? Like, you're kind of the red button. He's like, you know, whenever we have a question, we don't know the answer, someone just says, just ask George. And I think that that's kind of just been like a function of our evolution is that a lot of times the questions make their way

1:44.4

back to me. And even that's, you know, whether it's external, internal, and, you know, I love the really

1:50.4

complex, like not a straightforward answer really requires some multiple levels of thinking type

1:57.1

problems. As an owner, like, we encounter those all the time. And I could give you a great

2:01.0

example. You know, we had one of our coaching clients. They have a, like, six operatory practice.

2:07.7

And they were looking at acquiring another eight operatory practice. And they were going to move

2:13.6

their team to that location. And then they were going to expand their building from six to 12 operatories while they were in the other practice, and then they were going to move everyone back. You know, think of how complicated of a problem that is, right? You have to evaluate the purchase price. You need to evaluate the construction costs. You need to evaluate all of these different things to see if that's a good idea or not. And that's the type of thing that makes its way back to me. He was like, oh, let's ask George. Let's see what he thinks. And then let's kind of walk through it. And so those are the types of things that come up more often than you might think. And, you know, whether it's your question directly, you're going to learn a ton. But then just hearing the way that those questions are digested and analyzed also really

2:52.2

helps everyone involved see the business from a different angle or really just help them

2:56.9

understand maybe their practice or maybe an opportunity comes by.

3:00.2

And so, you know, I think that the fun thing about shared practices is we've called it

3:03.7

shared practices because we're sharing best practices.

3:06.4

And in this same way, you know,

3:08.0

we're really sharing how to think through these complicated situations and there's a lot of learning
