0:50.7	We are yet at another pivotal moment in this pandemic,
0:54.5	with cases rising again and some hospitals reaching their capacity in some areas.
1:00.9	That was CDC director Dr. Rochelle Walinsky during a briefing yesterday.
1:05.1	Yeah, and this reflects how things have changed in the US just since July 4th.
1:08.9	That was the day the White House was hoping to symbolically mark our collective independence
1:12.9	from COVID based on the progress of vaccinations.
1:15.9	But less than half of the country has been fully vaccinated and slightly less than 70% of adults
1:20.7	have received one dose, which was a goal the president hoped to reach on July 4th.
1:25.1	Right, cases have jumped rapidly in the US also with the two-week average
1:29.2	spiking over 170% and there are projections that it's going to get a lot worse.
1:34.3	Hospitalizations and deaths are also increasing, but to a lesser degree in places where more of
1:38.7	the population is vaccinated. And Dr. Walinsky said that the Delta variant makes up more than 83%
