Asian American. I'm Jen Yamato. And I'm Frank Shaw. This week on episode five of

our podcast, we're joined by ESPS. Pina Connors. She's a sports analyst the host of

E. P. S. P. P. P. P. S. P. P. M. P. P. M. P. M. is famous. I have always loved sports but I never aspired to be in sports as a career. Never

aspire to be on television, never aspired to do commentary. It just didn't seem like something

that somebody like me would even do.

We will talk to Mina about the Asian athletes that Asian Americans love to root for,

why racist trolls don't bother her,

and she has a bad Asian confession that personally shocked me.

We recorded this podcast at ESPN Studios right next to Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.

It was back when the Lakers and Clippers were still playing back before this global pandemic hit us.

Those were simpler days, but we hope this episode will give you a little break from the crazy news swirling around us, and even if we can't watch sports right now it was

fascinating to hear Mina's experiences as a rare Asian American woman in sports journalism.

So we want to start out by talking about your career, which is really interesting to me.

You've made some big changes moving from investigative business

journalism to long-form sports writing and then pivoting to hosting,

podcasting, and commentating.

And these are all really hard fields to break into.
