Dinner, diapers, and day hikes.

Think about this for a second.

When you have dinner, the kitchen has to become a mess first

before you get to sit down and enjoy good food, good conversations, good laughter.

And then after that, ascension up to this, you know,

hilltop of happiness during dinner, you have to go down the hill and you have to clean up the

messy kitchen. Or like diapers, right? Diapers are the part of the Instagram photos that you don't

see when the family is all beautiful and happy and smiling, looking at the camera,

we don't get to see like the sleepless nights, the dirty diapers, the crying, the fits,

the tempers.

We just see the ascension on the top of the hilltop of happiness.

And then even with day hikes, you go on a hike, you're walking, you're having a good time, and you can't wait to get to the top of wherever you're going, so you can look out at the beautiful view.

But there is a lot of work that it takes to get there.

Ascending to the top of that hill does not come without a type of dissension in your physicality in your mind.

You have to lower yourself to be even to get up to a place of height. And today, Jesus says

something very intriguing to his disciples. He says, let us go up to Jerusalem. Every time Jerusalem is

talked about in scripture, it is always in the sense of going up to Jerusalem, ascending to

Jerusalem. And it wasn't even that because Jerusalem was the biggest mountain, the biggest hill,

you know, but the way that they talked about it was such.

There was other mountains that were way higher, other hills that were way higher than Jerusalem.

Why did they talk about it?
