about this. So our last episode we talked about spirituality and this relates to that.

Often when I'm talking to people and they're wondering about my atheism, they wonder where I find meaning in life. It's seen as kind of a depressive

worldview. Somebody recently told me, found out I was an atheist. I think I mentioned this before,

they said, oh, well, you must be a negative person then, a negative outlook on life, that idea.

And so I've been spending a lot of time thinking about what is the meaning of life.

Do our lives have meaning individually or collectively when we die? What's the meaning of that life? That sort of thing.

And it can be depressing for some people to leave their religious communities and try to adopt a non-religious worldview because of that, because

their meaning comes from their religion.

So I'm wondering what you think, as a non-believer, do we have meaning? Do our lives have meaning? And if so, what does that meaning? If not, why don't we have it?

Hmm. Well, um, yeah, this could be somewhat disappointing because I do have a hard time with this.

I don't know that I have good answers for you because I don't think there's much meaning to our lives.

I personally think that we kind of have to do what we can with what we have.

And I also think that if that's, you know, if the life you have is horrible. I don't think that there's some greater meaning that you can glean out of it. You know when you're suffering the whole time I think it's we're putting kind of a terrible situation think. I don't think life evolved to give us an easy time at all.
