host Thomas Smith. All right it's the part two that you've all been waiting for

the gun control debate Eli and Travis let's get right back to part two. Well, again, that's a that's an argument of regulation and I think that's a little bit of an apples to oranges comparison here.

I mean I can think of other products that we sell to the public or regulate you know even

regulate after the fact that we're selling it that are still harmful if used inappropriately but they get sold anyway.

So I mean you're not talking about banning those things under that premise but you're

going to regulate it. Nothing that is even anywhere close to is comparable in danger to guns would fall under the

level of ease with which we make it available for people to buy guns would be my argument would be my response to that because the only purpose of a gun

is to do harm to another being or oneself.

That is the only purpose of a gun. Now we have found bastardized way to do that right we fire little clay discs in the air and well yeah

I don't think that's the that's what they were initially designed to do but we've used it. I mean, people do go, I mean, you've listed some of them already,

people sport, people hunt, you know, self-defense is just one subset of what people use guns for these things.

And they don't work as self-defense tools.

But statistically, they don't bear out as self-defense tools.

They're less effective than a knife in the home.

They're less effective than a cart, they're less

effective. We're owning a dog and I'm not going to deny that either. You know, I

used to carry and I don't carry anymore specifically because of that because I

know that I am more likely to escalate a situation unnecessarily because I own, you know, or have a handgun on my person. I know that I am, you know, if I get into a fight, you know, it might roll out of my hip holster and then maybe, you know, now there's a, you know, who's going to scramble and grab the gun for a situation.

You know, Abraham Lincoln wasn't there, you know, saying, oh boy, if I only had a gun on my

hip, I could have turned around and shot John Wilkes Booth, you know, like of course, you know, if somebody has a drop on you already, you know, having a gun on your hip isn't necessarily going to, you know, prevent that situation from happening. In fact, it may make it worse. And that's not necessarily what I'm arguing here.

I'm not arguing on a basis of self-defense.
