speaking we've got what may be called a friendly sibling debate on

GMOs and labeling. Melanie, why don't you introduce yourself and our other guest?

My name is Melanie Hicks.

I'm a director of a nonprofit museum.

And this is my brother, Derek Hicks.

And he is a scientist and I'm in a liberal arts major so.

So somewhat stereotypical in what you might think.

The scientist being perhaps anti-GMO labeling and the liberal arts major being pro-Chimo.

But, yeah, so this was interesting because to set it up a little bit, I had done a recent episode where I talked about the

anti-science, typically we think of Republicans as being more anti-science or at least a lot of Democrats and liberals will slam Republicans for being anti-science because of being

you know denying climate change and stuff like that but I was

reading an article and I presented it a little bit on the show talking about

liberals in the ways that they can be anti science.

And one big one that I think struck a chord of disagreement because I wouldn't say it's

50-50, but there's a significant percentage of listeners like you Melanie who are wary of

GMO technology and they certainly you and others made it known on the comments and all that

and I thought it was fascinating I thought it was fascinating.
