Now I'm not going to be actually reading it to you, although I will read some good quotes here and there.

I'm going to be translating, I'm a translator. I'm going to

bring this work of philosophy that is at times difficult. Do my best to translate

it into some thoughts that I can get on over to your brains.

Okay, so, there's no point in recapping because that was the last episode and I'm going to assume more than a few of you just just finished that one so I'll just go right on ahead

He says that in the in everything we've read so far everything he's written so far. We've been too kind. We've been too generous in

our dealings with miracles. Here's what he means. It's easier just read this part.

For first, there's not to be found in all

history any miracle attested by a sufficient number of men or women of such he means men in the broad sense of such, he means man in the broad sense, of such unquestioned good sense, education and learning

as to secure us against all delusion in themselves, of such undoubted integrity as to place them beyond all suspicion

of any design to deceive others, of such credit and reputation in the eyes of mankind as to have a great deal to lose in case of

there being detected in any falsehood. And at the same time, attesting facts performed

in such a public manner and in so celebrated a part of the world as to render the detection unavoidable, all of which circumstances are requisite to give us full assurance in the testimony of men.

Yeah, religion has never come close to that.

It really could be, and we'll explore this more later in the reading,

but it is possible for some interesting

testimony that would be consistent and have all these qualities he's talking

about. People with something to lose, nothing to gain from the testimony, enough people,

people, solid educational background.
