Let's wrap up Lesson 18 with a few more nouns, this time in Joel's bedroom and bathroom.

We'll begin with Joel's bed, which is where we learn the words for the parts of something,

such as the word for part, side, and, and today, base.

The left bedpost of Joel's bed is held up by a bossy little frog who's

always telling the toads what to do. So she's there holding up the bed and telling all the other

toads stuff to do. She's being very bossy, and she's using her position at the base of the bed as an excuse.

The word for bass in Spanish is B-A-S-E, B-A-S-E, Bace. So you can think base, but remember it's pronounced

Basse, kind of like bossy. This word can actually mean base, as in the lower part of something

that holds it up, or figuratively the base of an argument or the basis for something.

Here's a sentence example. I'm not interested in books that say that they know the basis for happiness.

No me interestan those libros that say

the base of the felicity.

Now let's go to the right side of the bed.

The right edge of Joel's blanket is cut off with a few

loose threads or cords hanging out. So the word corte in Spanish can mean a cut, an edge, or something related to sewing. So just think of this picture of this torn

blanket for cut, edge, or sewing. Now the right bedpost at the foot of Joel's bed opposite

the frog for Basse, the one on the right right edge has a sippy cup on top of it.
