In this short episode, we're going to begin learning the vocabulary from volume three of the course. Now, volume

three is not a completed volume yet, but I'm going to go ahead and present a lot of the vocabulary,

along with sample phrases that you can use to practice these words. And, as before, we're going

to use mnemonics involving Joel and his neighborhood in Yol.

Today we're going to start with some physical nouns, so let's begin in Joel's main hall.

Recall that the ceiling of this hall is where we store substances such as fire and water.

On the right side, near the burning wig for Fuego,

there's an air vent in the ceiling. Joel avoids flying too close to this air vent because it

hurts his eyes. Whenever Joel thinks of air, he thinks of the air shooting through this vent, and he thinks of it as

eye rays. Recall the air rays from the hovercraft in CER. Well, this particular air in

Joel's main hall hurts his eyes, and he calls it eye rays. The word for air in Spanish is Aire. Here's a sentence example. This place is far from the city,

and that's why the air is so nice. This city is de lais de la Ciudad. Por eso el Aire is tan

well. Now let's go down to the middle of Joel's floor.

Remember the little remote control car that Joel calls an auto.

Well, near it, there's a horseless stagecoach.

So it's a tiny little car of a very different style.

And it's a little more quaint than the fancy little auto.

This coach that Joel sometimes rides around in for fun is called a coche.
