It's no real secret that during the pandemic, folks leaned into their cocktails a bit.

Municipalities across the country loosened local laws allowing alcohol delivery, both from

liquor stores and bars and restaurants in some cases. In fact, the National Institutes of Health

found that alcohol consumption increased more during the COVID-19 pandemic than in the last

50 years.

Just as rising tide lifts all boats, the rise in imbibing has lifted some spirits,

spirits sales, that is.

But as people return to their lives and their offices, they also gave up their cocktail indulgences.

Cognac, a form of brandy from a region in western France, was one of the spirits that benefited from the pandemic's alcohol boom.
