in Joel's yard, and then some very handy nouns inside Joel's house.

Let's start by going back to the part of the yard that Joel is most afraid of.

Joel is generally terrified of mammals. Remember that there's an area in his backyard where he

once encountered two deer one night, and his number for two is dos,

because the deer were doze.

When he saw the deer, he panicked.

It was dark, and he wasn't sure which way to go to get back into his house.

So he did the first thing that he could think of.

He decided to make a decoy of himself,

in case the evil mammals were chasing him to eat him. His decoy idea wasn't the brightest. His

original thought was that he could draw a picture of himself in the sand by his stream in the

backyard, but he's not very good at drawing when

he's scared. So he laid down in the sand and tried to trace himself. But if you've ever tried

this, you know how hard it is. All that he managed to trace was the ends of his wings.

The image that he traced ended up looking like a number

three, not like Joel. It was a miserable failure. But now his word for three is three.

Further along in the sand by this stream, there's a flagpole with light bulbs on it.

After trying to trace himself, Joel climbed up the pole to turn these lights on.
