Welcome to the readout. It is Election Night 2023 and polls are just

closing in Kentucky and Virginia and within the next hour polls will also close in Ohio, Mississippi, and Rhode Island.

Across the country voters will give us a sense of what they're thinking and feeling on key issues.

First up, Ohio voters will weigh two major political issues.

Issue one is whether Ohioans have a constitutional right to abortion and other forms of

reproductive health care. And issue two, with legalized recreational marijuana.

Abortion acts also looms large in Virginia

where control of the General Assembly is on the line.

Those state legislative races will determine if Republican Governor Glen Yunken

can pass abortion restrictions in a state that overwhelmingly supports abortion access.

Meanwhile in Kentucky, we will find out if voters believe that incumbent Democratic

Governor Andy Bashir has successfully sold his personal brand as distinct from his national party.

He's being challenged by the state's attorney general David Cameron, infamous among many for

dismissing all but minor charges in the police killing of Brianna Taylor.

He's a politician groomed by Senator Mitch McConnell and endorsed by Donald Trump.

And at 8 p.m. Eastern polls will close in the mayoral races in Houston and in Philadelphia

which will likely elect its first woman mayor.

of Kentucky are now closed there it's a split time zone state so that's why you see
