Summary

In this episode of the Arsenal Women Arsecast, Tim is joined by Art de Roché from The Athletic to recap 2022-23 for Arsenal Women, where they have improved, where they still need to improve, key moments and highlights from the season, as well as tactical innovations we have seen during this campaign and how they might make Arsenal more flexible in the long-run. Hello and welcome to another episode of the Arsenal Women Askcast on Asplog.com.

Looking at the season that was for Arsenal Women that has now finished and I always think

0:25.0

covering football seasons and being a football fan sometimes it just makes you feel like life's

0:30.2

going by really fast because one minute it's August or September and the next minute

0:35.2

you're clapping the players on their lap of appreciation and obviously that's what happened

0:39.2

with Arsenal on Saturday against Sastonville and not the result they wanted to end the season but

0:43.8

I think we could see that they would they've been running on fumes for a little while that perhaps

0:50.0

their objectives were really achieved already and I think you've got the sense in those last

0:55.2

few games that they were kind of you know taken a little bit of a breath out but that's not really

1:00.4

what we're going to analyse we're going to do more of a kind of holistic review of the season

1:04.9

that was a season that seen Arsenal finish third and in the final Champions League qualification

1:09.7

spot got to the Champions League semi-final in front of a sold out Emirates stadium and won the

1:15.2

Conti Cup so plenty to chew on but not all completely positive I think will be critical as well

1:21.5

and look at areas for improvement next season and not just assume that Arsenal didn't win the league

1:27.2

solely because of injuries and here to do that with me I'm delighted to welcome back from the

1:32.6

athletic Art de Roche art thanks very much for joining us thanks for having me again I hope

1:37.6

everyone's season has been well and yeah hopefully there's enough time to kind of refresh before

1:45.1

I was going to say August but in reality it's June. Yeah well yeah exactly with the women's

1:50.4

world cup and you know Arsenal will be starting their season in the first weekend of September even

1:55.6

though the WSL starts a few weeks later because of the Champions League qualifying and all of that

2:00.5

but there'll be plenty of time to talk about that over the summer we're going to take a little bit

2:04.7

of a backwards look at the season that was in 2022-23 and I think I can't really remember a season
