Summary

In this impromptu episode of the Arsenal Women Arsecast, Tim goes solo! Tim goes over a magical night at Emirates Stadium in which the Gunners qualified for their first Champions League semi-final in 10 years with a 2-0 win over Bayern Munich. Tim talks about the impact of that Conti Cup Final win over Chelsea earlier in the month, why a trophy and a UWCL semi-final were such big priorities this season, as well as a bit of a tactical ramble on how Arsenal were able to overcome Bayern, with some of Jonas Eidevall's pre and post-match musings thrown in for good measure.

I wanted to ask how happy you were with the variety your team showed because obviously Arsenal

0:19.6

started really quickly, really intense and that was clearly part of the game plan. But then

0:24.6

the second half had to bring the game under a bit more control, trying to do that with

0:29.0

two centre-halves on yellow cards without Kim Little, how happy were you with your team

0:34.1

and you know, players changing position, just how happy were you with the flexibility

0:39.2

your players showed?

0:41.0

Yeah, I liked that because we knew that some part of it of course you have to defend

0:46.5

a little bit lower against the team like Bayern also. It's not our preference but we

0:51.1

get forced to do it because we're not quite getting our positioning right so we drop

0:56.3

a little bit deeper but what I think it's the big difference between this game and the

1:02.4

game that we played last week against them is that when we get into those moments we don't

1:07.8

lose our discipline. We did that a little bit in the other games, we start opening up central

1:12.8

areas and Bayern is very very skillful there. Now the only thing that was happening was that

1:17.9

they could switch the ball but on the outside of our organisation it was very rarely they

1:23.3

came inside to our organisation and played and I think you can see that when you look

1:28.4

through the whole game that there is not a lot of goals going up opportunities to buy

1:33.4

and create a big carables one where they actually switch play and they come inside our organisation

1:39.8

in the beginning of the second half is probably the strongest one that they have in the game

1:43.4

but if you look for 90 minutes against a high quality team like Bayern Munich I think

1:47.0

that's a very impressive defensive display for us.

1:50.7

Yeah that was pretty much my second question a bit actually I thought the job that Stena

1:55.5

and Frieda did on because Bayern so much of what they do is through Zadracea on a stand-way
