Summary

In this episode of the Arsenal Women Arsecast, Tim and Jamie rake over the coals of Arsenal's Champions League semi-final exit to Lyon on Saturday. They talk about not being able to live with Lyon's intensity in the first half, the VAR penalty decision, Arsenal's second half improvement, the substitutions and whether they expose depth issues with the squad at this level and there is some chat about the emotional response to the defeat. In part 2, Tim and Jamie ask your questions submitted on BlueSky, most of which were about squad building and the summer transfer window.

Lost track of the days now. Saturdays, Champions League exit away at Leon. Arsenal took a two-one

advantage to France from the first leg, but lost the second leg, 3-1. Semifinal stage.

0:35.8

They are out of the Champions League, the trophy they won last year.

There will be no Oslo this year.

0:42.3

I will tell the children.

0:45.1

And as ever, to break down that second leg with us is our co-host Jamie Spanger.

Jamie, how are you doing?

0:53.3

Hey, Tim.

0:53.9

I'm all right. This is not the conversation I wanted to be having with you this Sunday, well, Monday morning, Sunday evening for you. Yeah, I'm okay. 1:11.5

Like, can I be honest?

1:12.4

But we'll get, we'll get through it. Yeah, yeah. What time was kickoff for you, your time? It was good. It was 9pm. Oh, okay. For, oh no, wait, 11 p.m. Sorry, which is good. Okay, that's all right. that's right um Yeah, yeah, so exactly the same as last year.

1:29.4

And yeah, I mean, the Man City game today against Liverpool,

1:34.6

I watched it as well.

1:35.9

And I really wasn't expecting to be tense or nervous or even unhappy about it

1:41.4

because I was kind of fully expecting,

1:42.9

even with their kind of wobble against Brighton last week I was still expecting City to do the business but it

1:48.7

was a little bit of a kick in the guts for them to do it in stoppage time and particularly

1:53.4

after Jennifer Falca had played so well and then let that goal in right at the end and Liverpool

1:59.3

had some chances to win it themselves I I think, just before that as well.

2:02.9

So it did feel a little, you know, that kind of, oh my God, we might actually be able to do this feeling and to have it taken away.

2:13.3

Yeah, that, that, I did feel a bit.
