Summary

In this episode of the Arsenal Women Arsecast, Tim and Jamie talk over Sunday's 2-0 win away at London City Lionesses. There is discussion over Olivia Smith's increasing importance, a defence that has conceded only four goals in its last 12 games and the quiet serenity of an unbeaten run and the repeatable cheat code that is Stina Blackstenius supersub. There is also a little bit of Asian Cup chat. In part two, Tim and Jamie take your questions on BlueSky about the goalkeeper situation, the integration of academy players and dream NWSL transfers.

Hello and welcome to the Arsenal Women Askcast on AskBlog.com with me, your host, Tim Stillman, looking back at Sunday's 2-0 win, away at London City Lionesses.

0:22.8

I say away.

0:23.8

It wasn't an away game for me.

0:25.2

I grew up in Bromley, so very nice to go back to my backyard, as it were, where London City

0:32.3

lionesses now play.

0:33.7

They used to play where I currently live, about a 15, 20 minute walk away. So they just

0:38.4

like, they keep moving around me somehow. But after a pretty long three-week international

0:45.8

break and a five-week break without a WSL game, it did feel, I don't want to say strange,

0:52.9

but it really, it kind of almost felt like the first game of the season again. But anyway, here to talk with us about the game and some things around it, as ever as our co-host, Jamie Spanger. Jamie, how are you? I'm good, Tim. I'm a little bit worried for the summer, though. We're talking about this big overhaul. Does it include Tim Stillman going to the london city liners this podcast because you feel like michelle kang's

1:13.6

kind of in your backyard right now listen i you know um i'm open to offers um you know she

1:20.3

i think she's probably got the kind of money that would make me listen honestly tim

1:26.6

i'm a bit nervous about that but otherwise good agree. It was a bit sluggish kind of getting back into the WSL this weekend. Obviously, there's been a lot of competitive football on, which is nice of an international break, not just friendlies. But yeah, it was a weird one. It did kind of feel like a game that was just kick-starting, kick-starting the season. And I think the game maybe played out a little bit like that.

1:45.7

But I am excited to be back and watching Arsenal.

1:48.8

Yeah, I mean, I think also there's something here about going to whinge about kick-off times again.

1:55.7

I do feel there's something in that.

1:57.6

And someone, a friend of mine, kind of pointed out that on saturday lunchtime

2:01.2

english time there was no premier league game and yet there was no wsl game and i know like sky

2:08.1

sports in england they have the eFL as well and they have eFL games and it i don't know it just

2:13.1

i guess with the league cup final and everything, that threw a bit of scheduling out,

2:17.9

but it just felt like off the back of a long break, a load of 1155 AM kickoffs, just,

2:25.4

I don't know, it just felt like it struggled for momentum a bit, but obviously it's been

2:29.8

like quite a long international break, but for you, Jamie, the Asian Cup, which, well, I say I've been watching.
