0:42.2	Southern Tour. And we left off last week with George Washington leaving Philadelphia in March 1791,
0:49.5	just after the first Congress finally ended. The second Congress did not plan to meet until December,
0:56.0	giving Washington nine months before he needed to be back in the Capitol. As president, Washington
1:01.7	hoped to visit all the states in the Union. I mentioned back in episode 366 that Washington
1:07.5	took a tour of the New England states in 1789 during a congressional recess.
1:12.9	Following his 1789 tour of New England, Washington also took a short tour of Long Island in 1790.
1:21.1	At least part of the reason for the Long Island tour was Washington's health.
1:26.4	The president suffered a severe case of pneumonia in April.
1:29.8	He could not get out of bed for days, and many even feared that he was dying.
1:34.5	Washington was a strong believer in the health benefits of fresh air and exercise,
