Last week we saw the British Leave Savannah, Georgia in July 1782,

thus ending the British presence in that state.

The war seemed to be wrapping up as peace

negotiations continued in Europe. The British Southern Army under General

Alexander Leslie, however, remained in Charleston, South Carolina.

And we last looked in on South Carolina in episode 304. The British Army was bottled up in Charleston, and the Patriot

legislature met in Jacksonville in early 1782, beginning to make decisions for how to restore civilian rule in the state.
