0:54.0	Last week we saw the British Leave Savannah, Georgia in July 1782,
0:59.3	thus ending the British presence in that state.
1:02.3	The war seemed to be wrapping up as peace
1:04.3	negotiations continued in Europe. The British Southern Army under General
1:08.5	Alexander Leslie, however, remained in Charleston, South Carolina.
1:13.7	The Continental Army under General Nathaniel Green remained there to confront them.
1:19.2	And we last looked in on South Carolina in episode 304. The British Army was bottled up in Charleston, and the Patriot
1:26.7	legislature met in Jacksonville in early 1782, beginning to make decisions for how to restore civilian rule in the state.
1:35.6	And while it appeared that major combat operations in South Carolina were at an end,
1:40.7	both armies continued to probe the enemy lines for weaknesses and in search of forage.
1:47.2	Soldiers on both sides continued to fight and die in small skirmishes.
1:51.6	In February of 1782, militia general Francis Marion had left his
