We last left General Charles Cornwallis and the British Southern Army in episode 280

following their victory at Guilford Courthouse.

Now I've talked about how Nathaniel Green and the Continental's moved into the

Carolinas and about how the war in Virginia began to spin up, but I've only mentioned as an aside that

Cornwallis remained in Wilmington, North Carolina.

So this week I want to start off by focusing on what Cornwallis was actually doing.

Following the Battle of Guilford Courthouse,

the British remained on the battlefield for a few days, mostly tending to the wounded.

Cort Wallace sent a message to General Green, saying the British were trying to attend to the

enemy wounded, but did not have enough resources.

He asked Green to send surgeons to attend to the American wounded.

And remember that even before the battle, Cornwallis had burned his supply wagons and marched his army all over North Carolina with almost no
