This week episode 204, the British capture Savannah.

Last week I talked about the British capture of St Lucia in the West Indies and how the British

had intentionally put the war out of New York on the back burner.

Sir Henry Clinton remained in command in New York, but many thousands of his soldiers had been sent elsewhere in the empire.

This ended large-scale British operations in the north.

The British were concerned about fighting the French all over their empire.

The North American colonies and rebellion were no longer the highest priority

for the administration in London.

That said, Britain had not given up on the colonies entirely. In addition

to the Caribbean islands the British still hope to restore authority in some of

the southern colonies. The British had never

lost control of east and west Florida, although only a few hundred white colonists
