Last week I talked about the British capture of St Lucia in the West Indies and how the British

had intentionally put the war out of New York on the back burner.

Sir Henry Clinton remained in command in New York, but many thousands of his soldiers had been sent elsewhere in the empire.

This ended large-scale British operations in the north.
