Welcome to Off Message. I'm Isaac Dover. Today's guest, Arnold Schwarzenegger. You've heard of him, right?

Made some waves when he was governor of California for seven years. Schwarzenegger was in town last week to speak at an event honoring the California Citizens Redistricting Commission, a group which exists because of legislation that he helped pass into law.

It's important enough to him that he spent two hours sitting in one of the most boring panel discussions you could ever imagine before he got to speak.

Then he came to the mic.

In the movies, you solve this problem very quickly, he said.

You go in the room, you break the door down, see all the guys mapping out the district lines,

you just go blow up the room, burn the maps, throw everyone out the window, and your job is done.

He waited for the laughter.

It came.

But that's in the movies, he said.

We had a room set off for our interview, but he thought it was too small.

So he took off into the hallway in Rayburn, the house office building, and he walked into

another big hearing room.

I followed him in.

Where is your machine, the Terminator said to me.

Go get your machine.

So we set up the mics and got started.

It was a nutty day.
