I thought before we get to its evolution, perhaps we should

look at it as a status symbol, something I think you asked but that you bring up in your

introduction to the magazine. Now my question to you is, how much of a status symbol is

armor when the Roman army is

mass producing it? Well, you know,

it does come with an assumption. We always assume

that all Roman soldiers were armed

and armored equally.

And it's for the imperial era era probably a good bet but i don't think we know for sure

um could it be more symbolic almost than necessarily uh status or the status

or the symbol of authority.

I think the status symbol, it's deaf, that's, for sure it's an earlier thing.

I mean, when armor is still, you know, you're talking about the Greek archaic age or something,

when you're talking about breastplates and all bronze and so many parts that can be used to do it, to compose it.

And the individual warrior is still paying for it.
