Arm is reportedly venturing into AI-chip development.

Amazon is investing in France and the United Auto Workers Union is looking for a yes vote in the deep south.

Arm Holdings is working on developing its own artificial intelligence chips

with plans to build the first prototype by the spring of 2025.

Japanese Daily Nikke reported that the UK-based

semiconductor designer will set up an AI chip division

and plans to start mass production in the fall of next year, which will be handled by contract manufacturers.

After mass production is established, the Division may be spun off into a separate entity owned by Soft Bank.

Arm will cover initial development costs which could reach hundreds of billions of

Yen. Soft Bank, which owns a 90% stake in arm, is also expected to contribute.

Soft Bank is already negotiating with Taiwan Semi and other chipmakers to secure production

capacity.

The company also eyes building data centers equipped with its own chips in the U.S.

Asia, Europe, and the Middle East from 2026.

It also plans to build wind and solar energy farms to power those

data centers. The United Auto Workers is looking for a key victory in efforts to

unionize workers at Mercedes-Benz factories in Alabama.

More than 5,000 workers at a facility in the town of Vance and at a nearby battery plant will vote for or against joining the union.

A victory in the state is considered significant for the UAW, which has worked to overcome

resistance in unionization in the deep south.
