Walk us through the arc of your career

to the work that you're doing now.

How did you end up doing the work that you're doing?

So I've been a journalist for about over 20 years,

but I started covering the voting rights beat after the 2010 election when I noticed all of these states

flip from blue to red and in very short order started passing new restrictions on voting.

And this seemed to me like a major national story
