Probably one of the most valuable experiences that I've had in my life that I didn't even fully appreciate until much later.

In fact, oh my gosh, it's 20 years later now is when I was a nanny in the south of France for an

entire summer when I was 18. I took care of three French children in a family that didn't speak English and I thought I was really

signing up for a summer of fun and I was like oh amazing like I saw this you know job advertised and I was like oh I'll go do that you know I love France like

I'll just eat amazing pastries and have fun playing in the pool with kids right for

for an entire summer.

Wrong!

It was the hardest job I've ever done in my life and I've had some demanding jobs since certainly and it gave me such incredible

respect for parents. I really had no idea what went into a child rearing making sure children are safe taking care of

eating well like rested all these things I learned at age 18 and in a foreign language too which added its own kind of fun

hilarious challenges. Now I'm the youngest of five girls so I've never really

taken care of people younger than me besides some fun babysitting and this was a true

immersion crash course into what it's like to look after kids right which is what many of you do and I salute you.

But one thing that I learned in this role of being a

nanny to these children who were six, four and two, so the girls were four and six and the boy was two, is what happens when a child is tired?

So if they skip a nap, if they don't sleep, if they don't sleep if they don't adhere to a schedule and a routine where they're

properly rested. If you're a parent or maybe you've worked with kids like me,

it's really a question I want to ask you,

like, how does a kid behave when they're tired?

Right? It's like, nothing works, am I right? They're screaming. They're unreasonable. They want this, they want that. They're hungry. No, they're not. They're crying.

It's very difficult, right? It's a real challenge to deal with a tired child, an over-tired child.
