How does love appear?

Well, St. Augustine described it as having the hands to help others, the eyes to see

misery and want, the ears to hear the size and sorrows of others, and the feet to hasten

to the poor and needy.

In our culture, being needy is often seen as a weakness, but we do need God.

He wants us to need Him, to need Him both in the calm and the storm, to need the presence

of God more than we need His answers.

So how can you know if you are poor and needy and spirit spiritually needy for God?

Well, it is my prayer that this meditation from Matthew chapter 5 will guide you to

lower your eyes, shy away from pride, to seek humility over glory, and to share in the

sufferings of Christ.

So rest here for now as we begin, as the Holy Spirit leads you towards meekness, choose

to rest here and humble devotion, as the Spirit guides you towards reliance and need for

God.

So Holy Spirit, now come.

Without effort, allow your breathing to ease, your heart rate to slow and drift into this
