Summary

Before you say you’re pro-life, you might want to consider themes from JP2’s hard-hitting encyclical “The Gospel of Life.” It’s like an examination of conscience. It not only challenges us to take a deeper look at what’s really happening in “the culture of death.” It also invites us to consider the ways we Christians might be contributing to it through our own individualistic tendencies in our families, work environments and local communities.

Be inspired to combat the culture of death and build a civilization of love—one soul at a time, beginning with the people God has placed in your daily life.

In this week’s podcast, Edward Sri brings together two themes this week: St. John Paul II’s feast day (which normally is celebrated October 22) and Respect Life month.

0:19.1	Well here we are in the middle of October and October is a great month as a Catholic
0:24.7	isn't it because think of all the great Saints we celebrate in this month we have
0:28.3	St. Torres of the Sioux, St. Ignatius of Antioch, Saint of Francis of Assizi.
0:33.9	We've got St Luke the Gospel writer,
0:36.0	but this week we remember a great saint of our own lifetimes,
0:40.8	St. John Paul II.
0:42.8	Any great JP2 fans out there?
0:45.0	JP2 is certainly a great inspiration for me.
0:48.0	Certainly his writings, his teachings,
0:50.0	his own witness has had a huge impact on my own life and I'm sure many of you as well
0:55.9	JP2's feast day is normally celebrated on October 22nd this year that happens to fall on a
1:02.1	Sunday but we're still going to remember
1:04.0	JP2 in this podcast. I also want to point out that it's October and October in
1:09.5	the United States is Respect Life Month.
1:12.6	And so we remember the pro-life cause
1:15.9	in the United States in this month.
1:17.4	And I want to bring those two themes together
